I feel ill.
Very ill.
I'm on all sorts of stuff and rattle when I move.
I have used UKDVDR for years now. I've recommended them to friends. I've recommended them to work. I used to recommend them whole-heartedly. However they've recently let me down big time. So under my '2 strikes and your out' rule (mess up once and I'll stop using you for a bit. Mess up when I eventually come back and that's it - you're gone) they've got one last chance.
So I tried discworld UK. They seemed OK. They packed and shipped for next day delivery. Unfortunately they use Citylink as a courier.
Now I've had some good experiences of Citylink over the years. I've also had some bad including a mobile phone that went missing.
So today I sit at home (I've nothing else to do except sit, read, watch TV, groan in agony as either my gut, my kidneys or my back hurt and take pills) and wait for the parcel of blank DVDs. I use the order tracking and watch as the parcel is loaded onto a van at 9:52. I watch all day as the clock ticks towards 6pm and Citylink stop delivering. And then I watch in disbelief as the website reports that the goods have gone back to the depot after a 'failed delivery attempt'!
Now I'm not suggesting anything by this, but did that failed delivery consist of a bloke in a van looking at his watch and thinking 'bugger that for a game of soldiers, I'm knocking off for the day'?
So discworld UK, that's the first strike. I know it isn't your fault but make sure you use a courier that, you know, delivers stuff.
And doesn't lie about it.
'The Golden Compass'. It plays like a movie that has been made by a committee who have a vague idea of how to make a kids movie and an even vaguer idea of what a kid is, but I enjoyed it. Obviously all the 'controversial' stuff has been removed so, if you want the whole meat of the story, go read the books. But for a couple of hours of entertainment, it's pretty good. And that's my recommendation. Go and see it, it's pretty good. And Michelle liked Daniel Craig and is happy to hear that he'll probably be in the next one a bit more.
I also want a TokyoFlash watch. This one to be precise.
Next time.
