(LG KU990 - I'm still not saying 'viewty')
OK, so you can't set an individual message tone volume and the 'orange' logo spoils the look of the thing a little but hey, I can live with those things.
It also wouldn't connect to my laptop.
I needed this to happen so I could use the internet while I'm away from home.
Well, a little searching and I found this, which I'll quote here.
- Pair your laptop and your mobile phone: Turn on bluetooth of both your mobile phone and your laptop. Click the bluetooth icon from you laptop, press the button 'add'. The laptop will search all discoverable devices and display them in a list. Select your mobile phone from the list. Then you may choose a passkey. Enter the passkey from your mobile phone when asked. Now your mobile phone and your laptop are paired.
- Configure the mobile phone as a modem for GPRS connection:In Windows Vista, 'Start'->'Connect to'->'Set up a connection or network'->'Connect to the Internet'->'Dial up'. Enter telephone number *99#. Username and password are depending on you Network. For UK network providers, please see the settings: http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html. I am an Orange customer, so the username is user, password is pass.
- Important: set up "Extra initialization commands": Go to 'control panel', switch to 'classic view'. select 'phone and modem options'. Please note, in this screen, you must input an area code, otherwise the next screen won't appear! In the next screen, select the modem, click 'properties', then click the 'advanced' tap. At the 'Extra initialization commands', enter +CGDCONT =1,"IP","apn.address", where 'apn.address' is the name of the GPRS APN that you wish to connect to. See the settings of different UK providers here: http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html#apn. I am an Orange customer, so I will enter +CGDCONT =1,"IP","orangeinternet". Click ok then connect!
This came from 'Lingling's orange life' blog and is quoted here 'as is' under the terms of the CC license which you can read here.
Clearly I don't care about the bluetooth bit (bluetooth and Vista - don't get me started!) but everything else was exactly, and I do mean exactly, what I was looking for. Maybe others (yeah, who am I kidding? Although maybe I'll show up in google or something.) will be able to make use of this as a lot of the stuff I searched through was a best contradictory, at worst rubbish.
So thank you Lingling.
On a different note, my blank DVDs finally showed up (Bulqpaq 16x full face printable and Mirror 8x Dual Layer full face printable BTW). A day late maybe, but they got here. And I got a quid off as I complained that I'd paid for next day delivery and hadn't received it.
So 'discworld uk', I'll be using you again.
And I still feel like sh** BTW
